The National Institute of
Immunology (NII) is a life sciences research institution with scientific
programmes focused to study the body’s defense system to provide solutions for
disease treatments. The goal of the institute has been to develop a multidisciplinary
culture of research creating an appropriate environment for exciting scientific
discovery where excellence is driven by pooling intellectual resources from all
over the world. The thrust areas of research at the institute under immunology
and related disciplines are clustered in four main themes, namely, infection
and immunity, molecular design, gene regulation and reproduction &
development. A number of granted international and national patents are owned
by NII. The institute has state-of-the-art teaching and training facilities in
advanced biological sciences. NII has an impressive record of publications in
basic sciences which are disseminated through regular scientific journals and
seminars and symposia to the community at large.
